Be fore warned that HENCE FORTH Gungans will not be the clown of the galaxy! Darth Bombad will ensure it!

This actually makes them look threatening and I would still watch a villain like this.. while trying not to laugh at the Gungan Basic accent. |

LMAO. The only way that could be better is if he were singing "Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down..." _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. I don't think Gungans ever really ware the "clown of the galaxy". Sure, Boss Nass and especially Jar Jar ware goofy, and the accent is somewhat distracting, yes. Still, other Gungans ware much more serious and bad-@$$, like captain Tarpals. Let's not make the same mistake the EU made, conflating the entire species with the single most visible member.
A Gungan villian, Sith or no, played absolutely seriously, competent, dangerous, and scary, could be really awsome. _________________ Plagiarize! Let no one else's work evade your eyes,

Agree with that, Leon.
And there's been tons of species shown as Jedi/Sith. Check out the Star Wars stuff on Deviant and similar places. You'll get Jedi Jawas, Jedi Wookiees, and stuff even more ridiculous. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

One sofont's "ridiculous" is another's "fun". In my game, one of the new Jedi order's council is a Jawa, one Master Vert. That picture was just too awsome to resist using as an NPC, hat and all.
And I seem to recall at least one Wookie being a Jedi being canon? Or did I imagine that? Regardless, I don't see it as any more ridiculous than a Jedi/Sith Gungan, but of course YMMV. _________________ Plagiarize! Let no one else's work evade your eyes,

Superb. I will allow myself to use this Jawa in my campaign! Utinni! _________________ Nico,

Apologies if that came off as saying that this would be badwrongfun, as that was not my intention.
Perhaps I should have said 'absurd' or 'unlikely' or some other word. Certainly judging someone by their size (and appearance) shows that - like Luke - I would have much to learn from Master Yoda!
In all seriousness, I really like Jawas (have even published writing on them). Seeing races like them and Tusken Raiders as Jedi does strike me as unlikely, given what we know about them, but it certainly is possible, and I would imagine someone could have a lot of fun playing one. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

The Wookie you're thinking of is Lowbaca from the Young Jedi Knight Series
There is also one oin the SW Clone Wars CGI cartoon, though you most likely weren't talking about that one. (And if I remember correctly the second one slipped by Lucas.)

I agree with you about any species potentially being great whether its action or not. I was just trying to make a joke. |

No worries. I didn't mean to be harsh, just my defensive nature getting the best of me and making me want to point out the YMMV of it.
Unlikely is the right word, yes. But I find it a great way to show the universal nature of the Force. If you're alive and sapient, you can be Force-sensitive, and if so, you can become a Jedi, racial stereotypes be damned. For example, Rodian pacifists are a thing in D6 after all (one of the most fun templates, and the character art is just killer ), so a Rodian Jedi, as strange as the combination may seem, is definitely not out of the question. And yes, my game has one of those too.

Ah, yes, Lowbaca, that's the one. I've never read those books (my consumption of EU material in general is very low), just seen him mentioned somewhere in passing.
I don't recall the second one, but, much as I like it, I havn't seen very much of the Clone Wars series - only up to half of season 3, I think.

I also a big fan of making character against type, especially as I find it kind of boring that ALL members of a race are a certain way (all Rodians are hunters and the like). I get that there can be story factors and cultural biases, but it's also fun to make a character that cuts against the grain and blows up those stereotypes. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |
