Ok. We know here on earth, some people can pitch a baseball at speeds upto the 100mph mark. Now some grenades are sized just the same as a baseball....
So, if a grenade thrower set a grenade for impact then hurled it fast ball like into someone, what would the 'impact' of it be damage wise? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

+1, maybe +2 at best. And if they're wearing any armor at all, 0.
We're always seeing people get pegged by fastballs and they are usually able to "walk it off".
'Least that would be my opinion on it. |

How do you set an handgrenade to impact? Otherwise I would say that you roll 2 damages. One for getting a big chunck of metal thrown in your face and one for the actual explosion.
A stone to the face could actually kill you. _________________ Random is who random does... |

grenades are heavier than a baseball, you basically shot put them to avoid shoulder damage.
that being said, id give maybe + 1D over normal for the impact and the explosion being directly on the surface of the target. I normally give +2D if the impact is from the grenade being fired from a launcher of some kind. but that is mostly because the target is soaking up almost half of the blast. _________________ D&D 5e DM and WEG Star Wars GM for two kids who will hopefully carry on with RPGs for years to come

The M67 Frag Grenade weighs 14 ounces while an official MLB weighs on average 5 1/8 ounces. The hand grenade weighs almost three times as much. _________________ "Well hello Mister Fancypants. I know I've thrown grenades. They are very heavy, compared to what they seem. |

You don't "shot-put" a grenade, you throw it like a foot-ball (american football, not a soccer ball) to get the most range you can.
If you're looking for comparable size / weight ranges. The average football weighing 14 - 16 oz. Hand grenades are about the same size as a base ball, but the weight does not make them capable of being thrown like a fast ball. too much weight pulls them down too early.
I'd have to say shooting one from a grenade launcher may give +1D damage simply because of the height they get. But the real damage coming from a grenade is simply when it goes boom. |

No...you shot put it. At least that is the the way the army trains you to do it. I found it very difficult to do properly, and had to do it several times to get it right in basic training |

The army teaches to throw it like a football. Maybe it's a drill sergeant by drill sergeant thing, but I was taught to throw it like a foot ball to maximize range and avoid tangling it with anything you're wearing. |

In 2nd edition, most weapons have a max damage rating that they cap out at, reflecting the fact that you can't equal the destructive power of an E-web with a knife (or rock). |

I always chalked that up to "The weapon couldn't handle the pressure or force of a blow doing more than x-damage".
Give the option of basically using your full str + weapon bonus damage for one blow after which the weapon broke / shattered and was unusable again (no repairing, it was irrevocably broke).
But yea, I can see using it as a means to keep various things in line. |
