So you're creating the ripples in the force as normal but you've errected a barrier around yourself and the living force so your ripples can't spread?
Kinda like a cup of water floating in a lake, the ripples in the cup of water won't be felt by anything in the lake. Is that how it works? |
That is one way of looking at it. I was actually thinking about setting it up like an interference pattern. Think of it like sound, and sound cancellation devices. They emit a sound which frequency is exactly opposite to the sound that it is hearing. so the net effect is like there was no sound in the first place
the cup analogy works just as well though _________________ The Vong have Arrived

I think what the problem most people have is that if a jedi were to use the skill to appear as a droid or non-sentient, there are going to be occasions where the jedi can see that it is indeed a human. Jedi are not stupid and would get very suspicious of that feeling and at the least would confront a jedi master with the findings. The cup analogy and the fact that jedi would sense that the person was not force sensitive does not bother people because you would need to see them use the force before you would gey suspicious. |

Yes, if you had this particular power up all the time then it would draw suspicion. You would use a different power if you were to remain non force sensitive to others. With this power you would use to sit in a building and not be found via the force, or something of the like _________________ The Vong have Arrived

Sort of like an invisibility power as long as no one is looking at you...
It works well also if your character has taken the guise of a droid after having been cyborged out by having your brain installed into the body of an actual droid...

Exactly like invisible if no one is looking, just prevents people from cheating to find you in a game of hide and seek. _________________ The Vong have Arrived

One further question.
If you've got this power up and you're creating an interference pattern or a barrier between yourself and the force or whatever psudo-scientific explanation fits best won't that make it much harder to use other force powers at the same time? Much harder that the MAP would account for? _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

well, if you look at the difficulties, it is very hard to keep the power up, so one action to keep it up, and one to use the power _________________ The Vong have Arrived

Even so shouldn't it make it harder to use the force. Even if that means you're doing three actions that's only a 2D penalty and if you pull it off then you get the advantage of using the force undetectibly. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

if you are using the force at peace ie mediating, you have to make a VD roll to keep the power up. if you are in combat using it, you have to make a heroic+ roll, so dc 40ish to keep it up.
Basically i think of it as trying to use the force outside your body. instead of centering yourself with the force, you center it somewhere else, so perhaps a jedi can sense that the force is effecting the levitating fruit, but not know what is causing it. _________________ The Vong have Arrived

That's why the Alter difficulty begins at Very Difficult. A high difficulty, plus MAPs... chances are this power's gonna drop.
But in helping Vong create the power, I was of a similar mind set. this power should preclude the use of other Force Powers... but in the end, I went with his idea, and just made it harder than he initially had it. |
