Yes, thought it may conceivably in the Jedi's power to do so, it really isn't in genre. |

Actually, he used a levitating ability on both himself and Artoo to be able to land on the ground after his X-wing was shot down in CotJ, if I recall correctly. . |
Well, it DOES say in the R&E that TK can be used as a primitive star drive...

in emergergencies.
Sorry, had to add the last part there in case some folks thought otherwise. But I'd point out that a starship would probably way a few tons, and the difficulty level for using TK is Difficult for 101 kilos to a metric ton, Very Difficult 1,001 kilos to ten metric tons, and Herioc for 10,001 kilos to a hundred metric tons. _________________ FLUFFY for President!!!!

Yes, I remember Luke levitating in Children of the Jedi (and little else from that book).
I guess the general verdict is: Levitate, yes. Fly, no.
A Jedi's levitation should probably be something along the lines of X-Men's Magneto levitating himself. We can also use as a rough example, C3PO being levitated by Luke in Ep6. Jedi flying around like Superman or Neo would ruin the Star Wars feel. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Actyallu, i could envision a dark jedi using the 'charge up flying' that neo did in the beginning of Matrix Reloaded, where he 'moved the ground'... _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Well, maybe just the taking-off part, as a sort of "Force Unleashed" visual flair, but not the whole superman-style flying around. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Perhaps but I can totally conceive of a dark Jedi 'riding' a black tongue of flame in a motion that approximates flying, or perhaps surfing... with a limited height ceiling.
Of course that's not saying it'd be easy and it'd be a power that'd have to be kept up too. |

the phrase "Leaps tall buildings in a single bound" comes to mind lol
the sembelance of flying can come with a biiig jump
and riding a toung of flame would b emore riding the cuncussion wave _________________ The Vong have Arrived

One thing that a Jedi might be able to do is make a very high jump and then glide on a parawing. Of course, he would have to be wearing a parawing...
I don't take 90% of what's in the post-Endor EU material into account, for much the same reasons as have been posted here about the "wretched" book CotJ. It just gets hokier and hokier until it's all just complete @ss.
I do love the Thrawn Trilogy though. |
