It may not be in the core rulebooks, but doing it the above way is, like I said with the martial arts example, a D6 way. You have the same thing in the specforce handbook. There are also other things that use a similar system such as
Proffesional cooks learning specific recipes.
Tailors with certain clothing types.
Engineers and/or builders and others in technology productions who learn certain blueprint fundamentals by heart rather than requiring the plans be on hand.
And many more in the D6 system.
But I disagree with the lightsaber forms being used AT ALL. The descriptions for each form are way too freaking narrow to constitute a true fighting form of anytype.
And the sword fighting style they really used in the prequels, is a real world style. All of these so called forms they try to give on screen examples for, it was all the exact same sword fighting style. These forms just were not there. _________________ My backpack has jets!

I'll take a look at the Martial Art when I get home.
Are you suggesting we create the Lightsaber Forms from scratch? _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Or just not even bother, or come up with something better.
I know I am almost bordering on a semantics argument here, but those forms seem more like a lousy excuse for WotC to add Lightsaber Combat bonuses. More tacked on than anything. Itwas just one form in the movies, what's with all this form 1-7 nonsense? _________________ My backpack has jets!

Yeah, well, as I stated on the 1st page, I kinda agree with you. I don't see a need for Lightsaber Forms. People have enough of a hard time with the saber mechanics as it is. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

That's cool, just an idea, I have to say I almost wish I didnt bring it up. Because this has turned into a pain. I say we stick with what we have and finish the sorcebook. I guess I need to stick with my motto K.I.S.S- keep it simple stupid.
Thanks

Let me re-word my post, because I don't want to come off negative. I agree with both of you, I do think the saber mechanics are hard enough. Also I do agree that somethings are better left to WOTC. However I dont agree with the idea that the diffrent forms are nonsense. WOTC didnot create the difrrent forms they were in the books (ex: shatterpoint), well before the heros guide, while I can't stand the D20 system, they have come up with some pretty cool ideas. I have worked on this all night and have come to the same conclusion that you two have. That i somethings are definatly better left with the D20 system. LOL :)Once again Thanks for everybody's time and input somethings you just have to flesh out before you can realize that it may not work.
Thanks

Well, I think we can keep this discussion rolling. See if we can evetually achieve a satisfactory result. Meanwhile we go ahead with our books. If we ever decide on a good way to do lightsaber forms, it would fit much better in the Clone Wars Sourcebook, given that that will be an all-EU book, do these stretches will be more at home there. And we know that the Clone Wars sourcebook is still a long way ahead, so we have time to cook these Forms... _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Yeah, but I think the Clone Wars book should be made after the Ep3 one. It should be more of a "fill-in-the blanks" book. And maybe done in a different stile. Maybe not as a Galaxy Guide but as a Sourcebook. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Yes, I agree, I was wanting to do Episode III first, it will make the many events and characters of the clone wars easier to work on.
Thanks

Agreed. It'll be a lot easier to have a book out first that lists the people, items, places, etc. and describes them and the ways they relate. THEN have the Clone Wars book that plugs them in chronologically. |
