Hello! I gave into the peer pressure and decided to say hello since everyone else is 8)

I have been playing rpgs for only about 2-2 and a half years. I am a late bloomer but was introduced to it by my husband Vanion. I played a lot of online games but never table top. I have mainly played 3.0 and 3.5 D&d, we only played D6 SW for maybe 2 sessions but our group didn't like it so we went back to D20 SW Crying or Very sad . But then we moved to New Mexico and found a group for D6 SW (yay). So I have only played D6 since about August of this year. I have learned a lot, but still have sooooo much more to learn. What helps is that the hubby has 72 D6 books. Plus a ton on pdf now. I am currently devouring the Fantastic Tech Droid book.

I have never gmed before, but I would like to. But I have no idea where to start. I'm a little worried about being bogged down by having to look up a ton of rules during play, and also feeling silly when I don't know what to do. I know that after a while I'll be more and more experienced at it. So if anyone has good advice for new gms Ill gladly accept Smile

All the work you guys have done on this site is amazing. Congrats to you all!

Demona

Welcome home Demona!

If you're feeling like GMing, you should really give it a go, even if you're not all that sure about the system. All you need is good players who know the system and are honest about the game, so they can help you out and tell you what you'd be supposed to be telling them. A friend of mine GMs SW D6 from time to time, and he doesn't have much of a grasp on the system. In fact he doesn't have much of a grasp on Star Wars. But the adventure flows just fine. He just goes like

GM - "So, the thug pulls a, uh, what's that weapon? The one Solo uses?"
Player - "A Heavy blaster: DL-44"
GM - "Yes, a heavy blaster. He fires two shots at you."
Player - "He is -1D on both rolls".
GM - "Thanks. First shot is a 14, dodge?"

Something like that, and it works ok. And by now he's pretty much got it under control.

So give it a go. All you really need is a story and the ability to create a world for your players. And with the amount of DPFs aroud here, there's plenty of material to help you out.

Oh, and be sure to have my Stats books collection. People say it's quite a helper. Hehe, I know, shameless plug.. shameless plug......

Welcome!

If you want to get yourself into the SW system deeply, really the best way is to play it. Also, get yourself the GM sourcebook and Gry's guides (no need for shameless plugs, Gry; they're great books and the rest of us plug them enough for you! Laughing )

But you might also try setting up a Play by Post game here or on your own site; if you run it purely pbp, everyone has to either post before you go forward, or they must agree to let the GM make rolls and actions for them if the majority is online at the same time. However you want to do it, but have a consensus first. But a PBP will allow you the time to look things up while still running the game. It will just go at a slower pace because you'll have to wait for people to type stuff out, which again will give you more time to look things up.

Either way, good luck, good gaming, and have fun!

I own almost every single Werewolf supplement from White Wolf, and I have at least the main rulebook of every single game system from that company (Vampire, Wraith, Mage, Demon, Changeling, Mummy, Hunter, Exalted, etc., etc.). To me it is far more realistic than WotC could ever be.

But, nothing compares to the speed, playability, and ease of understanding of WEGs Star Wars. No matter how long I'm gone, I'll always come back. Villains and Vigilantes, Hero, Recon, BootHill, Cyberpunk, TMNT and other strangeness, ICE... all are but shadows to the superb WEG system...

Darn seems like you and me would get on well together...

My introduction. Well, i am a First class Electronics Technician in the US Navy, been in since Jan 92. I have been gaming since late 88, going from D&D boxed (expert and higher), to 1st edition AD&D, to 2nd edition, to Starwars 1st edition, and many others. While i also am a White wolf gamer, i am not as broad spread as max. I gm and play Hunter the reckoning, Kindred of the east, Werewolf and vampire (mostly second edition with some revised thrown in) and their dark age counterparts.

In my years of playing, i have given most every system (except amber and runequest IIRC) a try, some more than 3-4 sessions worth. And others i have made a character for but never got the chance to play (mage the assention and SLA industries). But when all is said and done, i always come back to my core 4, AD&D 2nd ed, WEG D6 Starwars, WEREWOLF and VAMPIRE...

I have been a gm of those main listed systems (above) for only 2 years less than i have been a player of them, though the whitewolf ones i did not get into until around 93-94....

I have been going to Gencon and Origins for the past 8 years/4 years respectively, with the GB7 RPG side of house, known as Sparks force 7. I am a player and active judge of their ongoing SW d6 campaign, SPARKS, and even have 6 modules out of 90 or so, in their roster, 1 being edited (hopefully will be ready for next year) and am writing out 2 more, with a two parter penned out just not put to computer.... this will bring me to 11 modules in the roster for that group. They also have taken on 1 of my templates as an allowable pc 'archtype', and have 5 rules included in game that i made up...

Well. Sounds like you've been a little busy.

Jan. 92, huh? I went into the Army in Feb. of 92. Musta been a good year for recruitment... but we'll not talk about recruiters, as such conversations always end with a deep bloodlust...

Glad to have such experience lurking about the Pit!

I see some new faces have joined the ranks of the Rancor Pit while I was away. It's always good to see new D6ers. Welcome one and all.

Thank you, it's good to be back. I am still catching up on all the threads I missed. Time is short these days.

Well, thought I should say hello to everyone (somehow I missed this area earlier). To tell you about myself, I've been playing RPGs for a long time now, since I was 11. GMing for almost as long (13 or so). My interests are to varied to list, and I like being with friends. So far I have gotten a lot of ideas and great suggestions for solving problems.

Unfortunately, I have not read any of the EU and only a few of the novels. Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

So please forgive the poor slob writing this.

I feel like I am among friends here. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Thanks!!!!!!!!

Welcome aboard. As for EU and the novels, some will tell you they're great, others will tell you not to waste your time. I personally enjoy the novels, and think you ought to read them and make up your own mind.
