I am of the opinion that every weapon should have a fire rate.
Are we stating that tech that only costs 750 credits and does 5D can fire so rapidly that it does not overheat.
But the same tech by the same company does for a weapon that does less damage - only for the sake of range?
On top of that fire rates are sometimes contradictory to the descriptions given for their same weapons. Many weapons state themselves as being able to fire more shots than the fire rate descriptions in their source materials before they got made into the D6 listings.
The stormtrooper one is a prime example - the 2E Corebook gives it a fire rate of 1, everywhere else doesn't give it one.
The BlasTech DL-18 Blaster Pistol is a similar story - only the info in the 2E rulebook limits them.
The Corellian Arms CR-2 is the same - its a d20 weapon that in gry's weapon collection book is limited while there is no indication why it should be.
On a similar note - constant fire - why do most "repeating" blaster not have it?!
E-webs - those infamous weapons from the movies firing vast amounts of blaster bolts are not labeled in ANY listing as having a fire rate or a constant fire listing? I honestly cannot think of a better example of what constant fire mode represents than this. |

On a note - my buddy recommended just plain removing fire rate since the number of actions you take is limited anyway thats to MAP.
Then my buddy threw at me the idea of a modification that pressed the trigger faster than you can - like a droid finger or bump trigger pull.
I can see that as being a modification to make the weapon burst capable. Do we have any rulings on making a weapon burst or constant fire? |

For me the fire rate is the max # of shots you can take, regardless of MAPS.. So if you have a FR of 2, you can only take 2 shots a round. Even if you wish to take 5 actions. Those other 3 will have to be something other than the 2 shots.
That is why i feel ALL blasters (and other weapons) should have fire rates listed.
IMO all rifles should be at most 3 a round, pistols i can see 4-5, with 2 for heavy pistols. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

My take was always that a weapon with a Fire Rate required some form of cool-down or recharge time before it could be used safely again. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation.
