Has anyone ever considered running a game before the rise of the Jedi Order? Back when Sith were just one of many species learning to to keep the force as a balance between the light and the dark and when Lightsabers had yet to be created?

Any ideas or thoughts on how to do this with the D6 system?

Interesting concept. I wonder what sources you would draw from to create a narrative background. I'm guessing that Wookieepedia has articles on what the galaxy looked like at this point, but are there any EU/Legends materials to help with the immersion in a story?

Well, the best source of information from this time period is the comic Dawn of the Jedi.

Although from what I understand, TOR also draws heavily upon it.

It certainly would be a lot smaller of a galaxy since at that time frame iirc, hyperdrive tech was so new and slow in comparison.

Well, on Tython it was non-existent. A game would have to take place in the Tython system alone, since it was well and truly isolated in the deep core.

There is still enough planets to make the game interesting though.

The main concern I have is how to incorporate Dark Side powers. At this time period, the dark and the light sides were equally important and you regularly see the Je'daii drawing upon force lightning for example.

The simplest way to deal with this is to just ignore the automatic Dark Side Point penalty from any applicable Force powers in the game and award Dark Side Point's based on evil action of the characters, rather than their use of 'evil' powers.

Well, I was thinking about it, and I think the best thing might be just allowing characters to remove Dark Side points through meditation or through a force power (one which has been lost in the mist of times by the KOTOR era).

I feel like this really suits the "Balance" theme you see in the books as well as doesn't allow freewheeling force lightning (since if you use it too much without contemplating on the light side of the force) then you will turn to the dark side anyway.

I would also run through many sources and crop down the list of available force powers. Many i don't see as even having been developed in this early of an era.
