No question for starting out. In my game, all PCs of any species get 18D/7D and then they each have a species package (that includes any bonus skill dice, special abilities, other advantages and disadvantages), and an attempt was made to game-mechanically balance the species packages to each other.
One question is how to handle it if the droid body is destroyed and the Shard survives to be able to eventually be transferred to a new droid body (at whatever monetary cost or debt the GM feels is appropriate). For game balance, the new body can also be 18D total in attributes, but what if the attributes dice are allocated differently? How would the skills values transfer?
For all PCs, I already keep track of the original skill dice allocation, and then keep a running total of CPs that have been put into advancement of the character. Now that I think about it, I'll probably just have the skill dice transfer as dice to the new body, and then reassign the CPs myself to something that makes some level of sense with respect to his old body. Some skill values may increase above what they were in the old body, but others will be lower and the PC's new character sheet will game-mechanically equal his old. Maybe I'll even include a small CP cost for transferring to the new body, so you don't get quite exactly everything you had back, but you're still close. _________________ *
