The problem, however, is that artists or writers often fail to perform proper research in the EU with regard to the established features of the vehicle itself. The PX-7 is just one case in point, where an artist and/or writer saw something that looked cool, so they included it in their story, yet failed to keep their version consistent with the larger EU.

Thats what I meant when I said "laziness and poor research"; its not about discarding a story, its about discarding details that create a conflict in the larger EU. I have no problem with a tracked APC in the EU, as there are multiple instances of tracked vehicles already. My problem is when some idiot takes a vehicle that is officially a repulsorlift and co-opts the image to make something else that does little more than create a conflict.

I get what you are saying, but they don't have to be consistent with existing EU. The new canon (such as Rebels) takes place in an alternate reality of the EU.

Actually, Rebels did a pretty good job with the ITT as far as the original is considered. What I'm ranting about is entirely within the Legends incontinuity.

Just thought I'd share some source material that was used for Rebels.
http://a.dilcdn.com/bl/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/2013/09/Imperial-Troop-Transport.JPG
http://www.starwars.com/news/offscreen-but-not-forgotten-mini-rigs-body-rigs-and-other-kenner-vehicles

Likely, expect to see more of these "offscreen" kenner toys see use in upcoming episodes, as Disney is tying in marketing as wells as trying to hook old fans with nostalgic imagery.

"Wow, I had that as a toy, I always wanted to see it used officially!"
and
"That's the vehicle from episode 2 of the cartoon! Mommy I need it!"

As far as tech you can't really top an X-Wing destroying a Death Star, so the new tech in the prequels was just meh for me.

Well-said!
