Well, i usually see sand troopers carrying 2 smoke grenades
Snow troopers often carry those "Ice spike grenades"
Rad troopers don't carry any as they prefer being up close and personal with their force pikes'.
Sea troopers i would think wouldn't carry any also, due to the effect on grenades being in water makes of increasing their blast radius. Other than maybe ink grenades, to do the same effect as smoke does up in the 'dirt world'.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

If anything, I'd say, taken into consideration Imperial doctrine, order of battle, and maintaining a relatively decent cost-to-benefit ratio...
Standard Stormtroopers and Sandtroopers would be carrying C-22's. There's no reason for them to have better.
Seatroopers would be carrying (as they do in WEG) concussion grenades. Underwater, that's going to have the most bang for the buck, sparing some heretofore unlisted seismic or sonic grenade the effects of which would also be amplified underwater.
I could see Snowtroopers and Scout troopers carrying some form of thermal or incendiary charge potentially, instead of their concussion grenades -- all the better to destroy or sabotage environmental equipment and breach-and-clear. Alternatively, in the case of scout troopers, some form of deployable micro-grenades, or anti-personnel or anti-vehicle mines perhaps.
Radtroopers would almost certainly carry concussion and aerosol dispersal grenades. Where they tend to fight, anything explosive, incendiary, or high-yield would be a phenomenally bad idea, especially when it comes to the potential of stray blaster bolts setting off volatile compounds, puncturing hazmat containers, or the like. More than any other type of 'trooper in the Empire save storm commandos, these guys would likely have equipment tailored to individual mission profiles.
Storm commandos, on the other hand, would definitely have variable-yield class-A's. They tend to get the best the Empire has to offer, and variable yield thermal detonators would have the best versatility and destructive power available. |
