This troop transport appeared in the latest episode of Star Wars Rebe's. So far I have not been able to find information about it. Not an image, not a name, nothing. The picture provided are print screens I made. It appears to be a mix of Imperial design and the Old Republic LAAT. Though this one does not appear to have any type of offensive capability with the exception of two missile launchers mounted below the cockpit area. Any help finding additional sources would be appreciated. _________________ Don Diestler

I am having some real issues with this vehicle. It appeared in three episodes of the Clone Wars animated. Twice it was used as a troop transport only, no use of weapons occurred. The third time it was parked in the background, again no weapons were used. The wookieepedia entry has it with one laser cannon on the back and two ball turret laser cannon mounted forward.
In the most recent episode of Star Wars Rebels the ball turrets can be clearly seen and yet launch missiles! Complete with contrails and a slow, dramatic sequence tracking the missiles to their target then exploding.
Now I have a couple of ways I could look at this: 1. the easiest is that the wookieepedia entry is incorrect; 2. there are two versions of this vehicle (one with the ball turret lasers and another one with the same ball turret but it launches two missiles instead); 3. there is a civilian version (used in Clone Wars for urban police actions, no need for missile weapons) and a military version (replaces the laser turrets with missile turrets); 4. the missile launcher is a modular upgrade used during the later part of the Galactic Empire (~5 BBY).
The problem with a version that only has missiles on the front, even for a military transport, is the ability to give cover to the troops your moving. The only cannon it has for cover is mounted on the rear of the vehicle making it, well, not very useful at all. It makes no sense either.
I honestly don't like any of these ideas much, with the exception, the wookieepedia is perhaps wrong. The biggest problem I have with this whole thing is you can clearly see that the laser turrets are launching missiles, seriously Disney wtf!?!? I am so confused on how to proceed making this. Anyone have some suggestions? _________________ Don Diestler

5. Roll your eyes at the stupidity of Disney animators, then give it bow guns and missile launchers. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Capsule: The Imperial patrol transport, also known as the Republic police gunship or Republic police helicopter, was a gunship model utilized by the Coruscant Security Force and the Coruscant Guard on the planet Coruscant during the waning years of the Galactic Republic. It was sleeker, smaller, and less heavily armed than the military-grade Republic attack gunship and so was more suited for performing law enforcement tasks on the dense city-planet.
The Republic police gunship was the civilian model of the Republic attack gunship and was sleeker, smaller, and less heavily armed. The police gunship possessed a spoked cockpit and solar gatherer panels which acted as the power generator for the ship. Two ball-mounted laser cannons were underneath the cockpit and one laser cannon was mounted on the rear of the ship which were better suited for patrolling the city scape as well as having a lower risk overall in causing collateral damage.
The police gunships were also equipped with searchlights in the event that they had to conduct searches at night or in areas of Coruscant where visibility was low, such as the underworld. The gunship's cockpit also had two seats for the pilot and gunner, with the pilot being slightly behind of and elevated over the gunner. The side hatches opened for entry, and had a ramp near the rear in the event that the circumstances required rapid deployment of its personnel.
The gunship was used during Clone Wars and available to both flesh-and-blood police officers and the police droids of the Coruscant Security Force. It could also be used by the shock troopers of the Coruscant Guard and the Jedi Order.

Clearly, these are the Empire's new micro-missile launchers; refitted from previous technology- designed to surprise insurgents who make assumptions based on the appearance of the weapons pod that the gunship has less firepower than it actually has. Just another illustration of Tarkin's crafty tactical genius. _________________ Star Wars: Marvels, the audio drama: www.nolinecinemas.com
