As i develop my ships back story, I figured massive interior damage would account for non standard interiors and why the hull plating got reinforced and replaced before she ended up in my characters possession. she got blown up, salvaged and customised. |

Page 126 in the 2e revised main book..
Quote: | When a ship lowers its particle shields, reduce
its hull code by -2D. (A ship which loses its main power
generator also loses its particle shields.) |

It worries me that I might have to use this thread in my game. |

IIRC all ships technically have particle shields. BUT since Tie's only have 2d hull anyway i can't see them going down to 0d hull if they get powered off. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

On the issue of whether energy shields apply against missiles . . .
I noticed under the description of the shield upgrades in Tramp Freighters that they explicitly "combine the powers of both particle and ray/energy shields, and thus are equally effective against both lasers and missiles." p. 40.
This would seem to answer the question of whether energy shields, on their own, apply to missile damage - the obvious implication is that they do not. But this also invites the question of whether the standard shield dice that appear in most ship entries are the type of hybrid shields described in Tramp Freighters or if they are simply energy shields that only apply to laser attacks. But if this is the case, and they are all meant to be hybrid shields (and, thus, apply to missile attacks), then why make the distinction in the Tramp Freighters entry in the first place? |
