While I generally agree with the whole 'player agency' bit, Random_Axe, I am not as hesitant to use Mind Control (or the equivalent, like Affect Mind) in my games.
I don't use it a lot, but at least a player under someone else's sway (especially in our supers game) gets to do something (as opposed to being paralyzed, or unconscious, or playing the part of a wooden statue, or whatever). In supers, the most common thing a mind controlling adversary will do is tell a PC to attack their friends, which can (if done sparingly) actually be kind of fun (a little PVP action!) _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |
