Way outside my skill-set, but thank you for the offer. |
Too bad.
Do you have a smartphone through which you may have a connection? The typing may suck, but you could go to the page at least. |

i just found and am using the astrogation map/database at d6holocron and it's great. as a numbers and data geek, i love the fact that's it's based off of network analysis of dyads. this means that it's limited by current entries...
i'm preparing to run "tatooine manhunt" which states that the travel time from the kwenn space station to tatooine should be 1 day aboard the ship alabak's gold, which has a hyperdrive multipler of x2. unfortunately, the calculated time on d6holocron is 27.71 days!
if there's pairwise travel data available somewhere and an open spreadsheet for input, i'd be happy to contribute. |

Oops. Well, what can I say...
Some (many) people have a different sense of scale from me. Theirs is a very reasonable point of view given the sense of time-scale which is implicit in the movies. A solution that I've heard them use is to take where it says 'days', and to read 'hours'. In that case, 27 hours is not too far off from one day.

Yes, it is limited by data entry. Unfortunately, the way my set-up works, I can't just piecemeal enter new dyads into the database and have it add everything in without a problem. If only!!
I should say that for the foreseeable future, I have stopped development on this project. Since summer 2012 I have an job that takes a great deal of my mental energies (which I relish). I simply do not have the wherewithal to mess with this project anymore, so what it is is what it is.
Now, maybe there's someone out there who is more than the rank amateur that I am who can actually code a shortest-path calculator from a dataset of dyads which can run on a webserver. I'd be more than happy to hand over my dyad data to such a person. |
