Genestealers turn up in the first Rogue Trader game book. Dont know if they were trademarked then though. In any case its after Alien.
In any case Tyranids has evolved heavily as part of a rather complicated collective organism, much like a locus swarm eating everything in its way. Only thing is that 'anything' are whole planets... _________________ My Biggest Beard Retard award goes to: The Admiral of course.. |

I've got first ed. books and Zzaphod is correct, the Genestealer when it was first introduced was several years after "Alien" and the gene stealer didn't actually look like it does now.
Tyrannids are actually based/inspired (what ever word play you'd like to use) on Gargers work (the "alien" designer) so they said.
Have done a space hulk style dungeon crawl many years ago.
since I had many genestealers mini's -thanks to several boxes of space hulk- I used the genestealer miniatures as a sith creation in an ancient battlewagon.
anyway back to topic at hand.
If you want traps to not only aggrivate your players but really peeve them get the Grimtooth traps collection of books, they are great and a humorous read, there are no game mechanics in the books it just tells you how they are operate and the level of lethality is left to you. |

Some great suggestions providing lots of material to build on. Here are a few more:
Beast Riding - no one improves this and you can get some great laughs in the process.
Jetpack/Rocketpack Operation - maybe they find an antique rocketpack and must use it to get out of a trap/dilemma.
Search - for secret doors. Um, I mean concealed passages!
The various repair skills already mentioned - you can really get a ton of mileage out of these, especially if your players encounter ancient tech.
Oh, and don't forget the creatures! Even Kowakian Monkey Lizards are dangerous in large numbers. _________________ Aha! |

And to top it off, use an archaic ship, repulsor vehicle (HOVER) or other such item, to show the 'age' of the place.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |
